How it is used

Kept in the pooja room and worshipped as your family tradition prescribes. Many households place a Nandi facing it.

Important: unlike a stone or sphatik lingam, a wooden lingam should not be given abhishekam. Water and milk will damage the wood over time. If your practice requires regular abhishekam, a sphatik or stone lingam is the appropriate choice.

About the material

Ebony heartwood is dense, cool to the touch and black all the way through. Because each lingam is turned and finished by hand from a different piece of wood, grain, exact proportion and finish differ between pieces. Can I do abhishekam on it?
No. It is wood, and repeated water or milk will damage it. For abhishekam, choose a sphatik or stone lingam.

How do I clean it?
Dust with a dry cloth. A trace of sesame or coconut oil every few months preserves the finish.

Which height should I choose?
2.5 to 3 inches suits most home pooja rooms. 4 inches is chosen where the lingam is the centrepiece.

Does it come with a Nandi?
No, the Nandi is sold separately.
