Mini umbrella | Pooja kambi kudai

A miniature version of the temple kudai, made to stand beside the idols in a home pooja room. The canopy is steel with cloth stitched over it, and the upper part separates from the stem for storage.

How it is used

Placed beside or behind the idols in the home pooja room, in the same position the ceremonial umbrella occupies in a temple. Larger sizes are also used for golu displays and for functions at home.

About the item

The cloth is stitched by hand, so colour combinations and trim vary according to availability and the piece you receive may differ from the photograph. Because the canopy separates, it stores flat between festivals.

Can I take it apart?
Yes. The canopy lifts off the stem, which makes it much easier to store.

Will the colour match the picture?
Not exactly. The cloth and trim are chosen from what is available, so combinations vary between pieces.

How do I clean it?
Dust the cloth with a dry brush. Do not wash it — the cloth is stitched to steel and will not dry properly.
